See students improve as you build on your overall language and communication skills.
After several years of teaching in various junior and senior high schools in Japan, I decided to put all my plans into a structured learning experience for my students that would show clear development, be fun, be flexible, and could help teachers and school programs across Japan.
Your time is important. With worksheets, you lose time searching for the perfect one only to end up making your own. You lose time at the photocopier. Then you lose time in class handing them out.
What usually happens with the worksheets once they are finished? They often end up in a mess or in the trash. How are students supposed to review what they have studied?
The students have taken more responsibility for their textbooks and in turn, more responsibility for studying in the OC class.
Reviewing material in class has been much easier, especially around test time.
Planning has been a breeze as everything is ready to go.
I spend much less time photocopying – and of course, none of the worksheets end up in the trash!
It’s easier to coordinate with other teachers about what to teach each week and where the program is going.
The lessons in English Quest follow the S.M.A.R.T. teaching approach and each lesson provides lots of practice with the target language found in the popular New Treasure (Zkai) series. In addition, there are a number of other benefits of using the English Quest series:
BENEFITS TO THE STUDENTS:

A Google Website is made available for schools who use the English Quest series.
There are full lesson plans and Google Slides for each Quest, plus suggestions for extra activities in each lesson.
I love teaching. I’ve been teaching in Japan for over 20 years. I was an ALT Director for six years for starting on these texts. During that time, I was developing programs and training new assistant language teachers.
Since then, I have published books for Z-Kai, appeared in several education articles promoting language learning, the guy in the New Treasure videos – that’s me, and I am currently the Director of International Education and Exchange at Kaetsu Ariake Junior and Senior High School in Tokyo.
If you are looking for a new textbook to support your school’s English Communication class, please get in touch. Currently, the textbook is only available for junior and senior high schools in Japan, but feel free to get in touch and we will see what we can do.
